Do you think you can produce some articles using information from my posts here and from my web sites? There are 4 Civil War magazines that might be interested. The NC Historical Review might publish something as well. Chris is working on a second book; this one is on the Hatteras prisoners.

I'm still working on Hatteras units, trying to get information ready for the festivities planned for next August's Sesquicentennial. I got sidetracked by someone contacting me about the GAR post. I want to restore the headstones of the GAR members with the help of the SUVCW of NC. I still plan to finish the Camden Troops web site by Christmas. Also in the works is a presentation on the Hatteras prisoners in cooperation with Chris Meekins.

Hello, David. Nice place to chat and transfer info. Ready to start on the article on the battle of Elizabeth City? I now have an outline for the story.

Books writtenby site members

Mike Zatarga's new book The Battle of Roanoke Island (top) is out from The History Press..The Museum of the Albemarle has copies in stock.

Jim Gaddis has a new book out as well. Richard Gatlin and the Confederate Defense of Eastern North Carolina is available at and as well as at a couple of bookstores in the Elizabeth City area:

Page After Page, Eliz. City, NC

Museum of the Albemarle

Robert Smith's book The History of Fort Ocracoke in Pamlico Sound from The History Press is currently available as well. The Museum of the Albemarle has copies in stock.

It looks like there are a plenty of new reads for Civil War buffs in northeastern North Carolina!

From last summer

Lee Oxford's book is also for sale online,  in area bookstores, and at local museums
